Waterfowl Watch at Green Lane Park

The Winter Birding Extravaganza at Green Lane Park will make a total of three stops at various points around the reservoir. The group will initially meet at the Knight Lake Parking Area at 1pm. From here, the group will walk along the Perkiomen Trail while scanning the flats of Knight Lake. After a good search at Knight Lake, the group will drive to the Walt Road Parking Area. Lastly, the group will finish with a final stop at Church Road Parking Area. The group can expect to see a variety of ducks and other water birds such as the Mallard, American Black Duck, Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, American Wigeon, Wood Duck, Ruddy Duck, Ring-necked Duck, Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, and the Common Merganser. Expert birders will be on hand to assist in bird location and identification. Be sure to dress warm, bring your binoculars, and bring a friend!

Interpretive Trail Hike at Rancocas

Twilight & Full Moon Trek

Come join us on this moderately paced 4 - 5 mile towpath hike.  We'll listen for owls & keep an eye out for other nocturnal critters. We will meet at the park office, then hike south towards the Giving Pond as the sun is setting. After checking out the only remaining covered bridge along the canal in Uhlerstown, we will return to the park office for some hot chocolate or tea! Please dress warmly in non-cotton layers, wear sturdy shoes & bring a flashlight in case of cloud cover.  Please BYOM (bring your own mug) if you would like to enjoy a hot drink post-hike. Raptors of Winter Hike

Delaware Canal State Park 11 Lodi Hill Road, Upper Black Eddy, PA, United States

Join us for a scenic hike along the Nockamixon Cliffs section of the Delaware Canal towpath. Meet at the Fish and Boat parking lot just below Riegelsville at 10 am (entrance directly south of the Valero gas station & just north of the Rt. 212 intersection). Seven mile round trip hike along the towpath, past river valley homes & farms, the towering majesty of the Nockamixon Cliffs, and hopefully some birds of prey.  On previous hikes, we have observed red-tailed hawks, vultures, bald eagles & more along this section of the towpath! Bring water & a hearty snack to eat along the way. Dress for the cold in warm, non-cotton layers. Also, binoculars are very useful for getting a closer look at the birds we are likely to see; about 8 pairs of loaner binoculars will also be available.
